Ireland is a country that has an abundance of Natural Resources. We are battered by winds, blessed with lush Forestry, enveloped by the sea and have used peat from our bogs as a source of energy for centuries, so it comes as no surprise that state bodies and institutions are using OSi data and GIS to ensure that our Natural Resources are maximised and maintained.

bord_na_monaWhether it be to use wind speed data, and OSI Height information within a GIS to identify a suitable site for a windfarm or as in the case of Bord Na Mona plan and manage the 85,000 ha of bog through the use of Aerial Orthorectified photography, a photograph that behaves the same way as a scale map, i.e. you can obtain measurements and calculations from it.
