Bord Iascaigh Mhara
Bord Iascaigh Mhara is the Irish State agency with responsibility for developing the Irish Sea Fishing and Aquaculture industries.
Project Summary
Bord Iascaigh Mhara employs OSi overhead orthophotography and digital mapping data for the development of Ireland’s aquaculture industry. Mapping is used to identify potential locations for fish farming – from shellfish beds to larger scale salmon farming . OSi mapping helps to assess the environmental impacts of this development activity. Mapping is also used to monitor fish stocks by location and by species and to track movements of species. Digital spatial data facilitates the sharing of this information for planning purposes with other Government organisations and with partner companies.
OSi Data Bases employed
