UPC
UPC Broadband (UPC) is the European division of Liberty Global, Inc., the world’s leading international cable operator. UPC brings television, broadband internet and telephone services to approximately 9 million customers throughout 9 European countries. In Ireland, Chorus and NTL have amalgamated to become one company under the UPC brand. The company provides broadband, digital television and fixed line telecommunications services.
Project Summary
UPC makes extensive use of OSi digital mapping and aerial photography for the planning and implementation of telecommunications infrastructure throughout the country. Telecommunications providers require highly precise and accurate mapping in order to deliver services to exactly where their customers are located.
The integration of the UPC network information with OSi Spatial data and digital mapping is required for analysis and planning purposes. The UPC Network can be displayed and cross referenced with geocoded location information and address databases. This gives the user streamlined access to all data required in an easy to read visual format.
OSi Data Bases employed:
- Large Scale Mapping.
- Small and Medium Scales Mapping.
- High and low level imagery and orthophotography.
- Height models and Lidar models.
- National Boundaries and small areas database.
