E-Net

ENetFibre is the future for telecommunications and e-net’s mission is to bring fibre services to regional Ireland. Today E-net manages the largest Fibre Optic only network in Ireland extending to 27 towns and cities throughout the country.

Built by Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, these Metropolitan Area Networks are available to all telecoms operators who are using them to radically enhance and increase the services available to Irish consumers.

Project Sumary

ENetIreland’s new infrastructure has been built using the latest fibre optic technology, bringing unrivalled resilience and service quality. The MANs are designed in interconnected fibre rings, reducing the risk of service interruption common to other networks.

The high standard of the infrastructure build means high capacity, cost-effective and flexible bandwidth services, allowing telecommunications operators to provide for all of their customers business requirements.

E-net extensively employs OSi digital mapping technology for the planning and implementation of the MANs nationally.

OSi Data Bases employed:

  • Large Scale Mapping
  • Small and Medium Scales Mapping
  • High and low level imagery and orthophotography
  • Height models and Lidar models
  • National Boundaries and small areas database
