The longest river in Ireland is the River Shannon, 386 km (240 mi). Lough Derg is the largest lake on the Shannon and other lakes are Lough Allen and Lough Ree. The River Shannon flows into the Atlantic Ocean at the Shannon Estuary.
Carrauntoohil in Kerry is the tallest peak in Ireland at 1,038 metres (3,406 ft) and is part of the Macgillycuddy's Reeks range.
The answer very much depends on the detail included in the measurement of the coast. Ireland is 84,288 sq. km (32,544 square miles) in area. Its greatest length is 485 km (302 miles), its greatest width 304 km (189 miles), and its coastline extends for over 5,631 km (3,500 miles).
The largest lake is Lough Neagh (396 sq. km/153 sq. mls) in Northern Ireland.
The country is divided into four historic provinces. Ulster (9 counties) in the north; Munster (6 counties) in the south; Leinster (12 counties) in the east; and Connacht (5 counties) in the west.
